Elizabeth Gross (ze/they/she) is a poet and interdisciplinary artist, teacher, DJ, and merperson from New Orleans. this body/that lightning show, zer first poetry collection, was selected by Jericho Brown for the Hilary Tham Capital Collection of The Word Works Press and came out in 2019. DEAR ESCAPE ARTIST, a chapbook in collaboration with artist Sara White, came out from Antenna in 2016 and is forthcoming in a 2nd edition. Zer poem, “Ghazal at the end of the world”, was selected by Beth Ann Fennelly as the Poetry Contest Winner for the Words and Music Festival in 2020 and appeared in the Peauxdunque Review. Other poems have appeared in Green Mountains Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Fairy Tale Review, and a wide array of journals and anthologies. Ze teaches Creative Writing at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and interdisciplinary humanities at Tulane University, and co-organizes The Waves Reading Series, which showcases the voices of LGBTQ+ writers.
